Here is a list of resources for members of the Governor’s family during the COVID-19 health crisis
3/17/2020
As of today, we are operating with Gov’s To-Go/Delivery (where available.) Our focus now is on guest service with enhanced sanitation practices, and keeping our team members safe with a level of employment. This will obviously curtail our ability to provide hours, and in order to give you access to emergency government unemployment benefits many of you have been temporarily laid off. Despite this, we ask that you contact us if we can be any assistance during this time. We’re here to help to the best of our ability. Our intention is to recall employees as we need them once we get the all clear to resume normal operations.
Unemployment Benefits-
Under the guidance, federal law permits significant flexibility for states to amend their laws to provide UI benefits in multiple scenarios related to COVID-19. For example, federal law allows states to pay benefits where: (1) An employer temporarily ceases operations due to COVID-19, preventing employees from coming to work; (2) An individual is quarantined with the expectation of returning to work after the quarantine is over; and (3) An individual leaves employment due to a risk of exposure or infection or to care for a family member. In addition, federal law does not require an employee to quit in order to receive benefits due to the impact of COVID-19.
We’ve been told that it is best to wait to apply for unemployment until the state Legislature officially approves the emergency measure, which is supposed to happen Tuesday 3/17.
Team members can visit https://www.maine.gov/unemployment/claimants/ to create an account and file a claim for unemployment.
If you need help with payroll information or even need to use a computer to apply for this online please reach out to your manager. We are here to help as best we can.
We will update this once we learn more from the State and Federal Government.
